“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” – John 3:16
“Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.'” – Matthew 28:18-20
These verses represent the hope of salvation that Jesus Christ brings to the world and the command the Lord gives to believers so that others may also be saved.
The passage from Matthew has become known over time as the ‘Great Commission’ given by Christ. It is among the clearest examples in the bible of the path believers will take after they have placed their trust in the love of God, recognizing that it is Jesus Christ who gave his life for them.
The enduring and life-changing message of salvation by the grace of God motivates, inspires and gives meaning to the lives of disciples of Jesus Christ.
After a believer confirms this salvation from the Lord, then throughout the rest of their lives, they can follow Jesus’ commands to teach others what he has shown them. In Christ, believers see a life of self-sacrifice and suffering in obedience to God’s call to love Him and one another.
This is the path of love that Olivet Assembly – the people who form its churches and para-churches – wish to do in response to God’s calling in Jesus Christ.
In the world today, the spiritual challenges facing people are the same as they have been throughout time. The relationship between God and people is strained to the point where humanity cannot walk faithfully with God in love, and instead disregards him, and as a result disregards his neighbors with tragic consequences.
Yet, man finds his greatest purpose when God reveals Himself, and shows the true path for salvation that can be found in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The way back from chaos and hopelessness is found in the Lord who loved us until the end.
The Assembly wishes to bring this message to the world and affirms the blessed work that Christ is doing among all believers everywhere to reveal a unity that allows the world to believe that the Father has sent Jesus.
It is our desire that through Olivet Assembly, God can reveal his love to many people in Jesus Christ.
